Letter to Uinta County Herald

Dear Editor,

So being the first letter of the month I feel the need to talk to people about the MTC facility that may be coming in and also the philosophy behind both sides of the argument. Like I have stated before I am a Libertarian but I understand the conservative side of the argument as well as the “progressive” side of the argument. Alright now conservative and progressive Evanstonians we have to realize this for what it is, a processing center. You will not see ICE vehicles roaming the streets of Evanston with nets like they are hunting for wild game, this is the democrat fear at the moment and I think that the people of Evanston would not put up with that.  And a note to the conservative side it is entirely too hard to become a citizen of our nation. Let’s face it close to 90%, if not more, of high school seniors cannot pass the test to become a citizen. So either the schools suck, which they do because they are government owned, or it is truly hard for someone who has no idea of our history to become a citizen of our country.

What I would propose as a solution to the illegal immigrant problem is number one quit incentivizing it. Every welfare program, including student aid, needs to be absolved. It is not the government’s job to provide for anyone. And when you look at all the hidden taxes in the U.S.A. it is obviously apparent that the average American making 48k a year pays close to 65% of their income in taxes. The person making minimum wage can’t afford this, but the government turns around and gives them 15% back in welfare programs. How about we don’t tax at all? Secondly we need to make it easier to obtain either work visas or citizenship. I believe in free trade no tariffs or taxes on foreign imports or exports as long as the other country is following the same guidelines, if not follow their tax code on our imports/exports. Does anyone know what a basic ford focus costs in China? It is the equivalent of 50,000 U.S. dollars while here it is only 20,000. That is so china can prop up their failing economy while enjoying America’s leniency.

While we can all agree that something needs to be done about illegal immigration most conservatives and libertarians can side on eliminating welfare as a whole. But what this is for Evanston is close to 100 well-paying jobs. Corrections officers at the processing plants are starting off at more than most of Evanston’s police and sheriff departments make. While “progressives” are touting that only government should have this kind of power we need to look at the larger picture when it comes to privatization, and the fact is that it is cheaper. Just for those who don’t know why I have been putting the term progressives in quotations it’s actually because most of their policies are regressive. More government has been tried all over the world, Venezuela, North Korea, Soviet Union, and many more have tried socialism/communism and it always fails.

California Get Ready To Crash

The la times reported:

The bill, SB 562, would establish a publicly run healthcare plan that would cover everyone living in California, including those without legal immigration status. The proposal would drastically reduce the role of insurance companies: The state would pay for all medical expenses, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency services, dental, vision, mental health and nursing home care.

California will most likely pass this bill, and oh boy I hope it does. For years California has been nothing more than a liberal paradise. Where the poor are punished by high taxes and regulations, where even surviving on the state’s minimum wage is impossible. I have family in California and I hope they realize what is about to come to pass. If this bill passes in three years the state will be in complete economic ruin. There will be no businesses opening shops, there will be no employers left, and most importantly the rich will move elsewhere. This will be a total case of atlas shrugged, where high taxes (because there is no other way to pay for this) will drive everyone out of the state except the most destitute. You want to see Venezuela in America this would be the state to do it.

Socialized medicine doesn’t work, the economics of it are not there. Why would any doctor want to perform on someone when they know the pay isn’t great? Why even go to medical school that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. What you will see is the same thing we have seen in every other place that has socialized medicine. At first it will do great, and in the beginning broken arms and emergency services will be done fast and efficiently because they are low cost to most hospitals. After all out west we pay 900 dollars for a set of six stitches. But when it comes to MRI’s and Cancer treatment people will flee the state in order to move somewhere that offers better services. But here is the thing, with this law health insurance won’t be around in California. So if you leave the state in the hopes of eventually getting the treatment you need to survive, chances are Californians will end up spending their life’s savings trying to get treatment.

Sometimes I wonder why we bother with California, personally I say let them leave the United States like they want. Get ready Californians, and those of you who know what economics are….get ready to move.

Sanders’ Utopia: The Effects of Democratic Socialism

When Bernie Sanders’ campaign was on the rise we were watching different parts of the world collapse due to socialistic ideals that he touted. One of these countries was Greece that was literally dragging down the EU with its socialized programs. Today however we see a country that has no way out, Venezuela. The rich have left and there is no way for this country to save themselves. They have spent themselves into oblivion and borrowed at a rate that could not be sustained. This just in today from CNN.

The country’s central bank only has $11.9 billion in reserves, down sharply from $30 billion in 2011. A few large debt payments are coming due soon. Starting in October, Venezuela owes a total of $4.7 billion in a series of payments.

Venezuela is in the midst of a deep economic, political and humanitarian crisis. Its citizens are suffering from massive food shortages and hospitals lack basic medicine and equipment. Experts say Venezuela has prioritized paying the debt over dealing with the shortages.

“Within a year they’re going to run out of money,” says Russ Dallen, an expert on Venezuela’s debt and managing partner at Caracas Capital, an investing firm in Miami. Dallen pointed out that the country has been almost “suicidal” in its focus on making debt payments.

Food down there has gotten so hard to find that some people wait 35 hours in front of government stores to get their food. On the black market it can take a whole month’s salary in order to pay for basic essentials to feed a household. This is democratic socialism. I do not care how anyone tries to spin it, I don’t care that Norway or Sweden has “perfected” it. The fact is that eventually people get tired of paying for those who refuse to pay for themselves. All socialized programs are fraught with waste and abuse, and when controlled by the state end up in a state of shambles. Don’t believe me look at books that children read 100 years ago vs the books that are read today.

It is a dire situation and ironic for a country that sits on the world’s largest oil reserves. It’s true that oil prices have dropped dramatically and Venezuela hasn’t been able to earn enough money for its oil. But whatever money Venezuela earns from its oil is going to pay down its debts to lenders like China, bondholders, oil drilling companies and importers.

Even oil drilling companies are starting to cut business in Venezuela. For instance, in April, Schlumberger said it would reduce operations in Venezuela due to unpaid bills. It’s also one of the key reasons why the country’s oil production has plunged to 13-year lows.

When a country or even a state basis its entire economy on one single industry this is what happens. It has happened in Wyoming and in North Dakota. The main difference is that most of the oil companies were smart and saw the down turn so they shut down their plants realizing that it was more expensive to stay in operation than it was to just shut the plants down. The part of course that CNN isn’t reporting is that the government has taken over some of these facilities and opened them back up for the “worker”, when in reality it is just to keep people’s minds off of what is really going on. Last week we saw the introduction of forced labor laws. In plain term’s its slavery to the state.

This is what happens when you confuse rights with wants. You don’t have a right to someone else’s labor, which means anything that you cannot do yourself you have no right to. So sorry for letting people know that you don’t have a right to education or healthcare, unless you believe it is perfectly okay to force someone else by threat of violence to work for you.

Venezuela Death Spiral Continues

If you have been told that the end result of socialism is poverty and food shortages, you haven’t been told the whole truth. As bad as abject poverty and food and fuel shortages can be, things can always get worse.

A new decree by Venezuela’s government could make its citizens work on farms to tackle the country’s severe food shortages.
That “effectively amounts to forced labor,” according to Amnesty International, which derided the decree as “unlawful.”

In a vaguely-worded decree, Venezuelan officials indicated that public and private sector employees could be forced to work in the country’s fields for at least 60-day periods, which may be extended “if circumstances merit.”

Things are so dire in Venezuela that the ruling government is moving on to slave labor. If the citizens don’t rise up and force out the leftists who have watched over Venezuela’s predictable death spiral, the next thing the people will be facing will be starvation and genocide.

When Hugo Chavez came to power and put the country on the path of socialist utopia, it was predicted by many that the end result would be economic ruin. With the previous examples of Russia, China, Cambodia, North Korea, Cuba, and Vietnam, why would anyone expect Venezuela to turn out any different? But remember this. As bad as things are in Venezuela today, things are about to get worse.

A whole lot worse.
